The Film and Video Poetry Society is a boutique publishing and distribution platform that supports poets, filmmakers and media artists who practice film and video poetry. The Film and Video Poetry Society not only advocates for videopoetry, video-visual poetry, poetronica, poetry video, media poetry, poetry film, poetry video, and Cin(E)-Poetry, but also are fervent supporters of experimental film, documentary, avant-garde, essay film, animation, digital and performance arts. The Film and Video Poetry Society publishes articles and independent press items in support of all of these practices annually, program a live channel, and host an annual event titled The Film and Video Poetry Symposium.

(October 2020) The 2020 Film and Video Poetry Symposium will take place in Los Angeles, California beginning November 12, 2020 and concluding on January 2, 2021. 125 films selected from 30 countries will screen at our live events, media gallery, and online.

(May 2020) These programs were originally distributed to audience members before each film screening or event during the symposium’s annual year. The pamphlet is well constructed, contains info on all of the events and participants that year, and is our first cherished memento.

(July 2019) The 2019 Film and Video Poetry Symposium has programmed over 30 international films to be screened worldwide. The symposium will feature 9 guest speakers, educational workshops, poetry readings, and a gallery exhibit presenting the work of 18 artists and poets. Guests will experience live poetry performance, a large media installation. and much, much more.

(July 2019) The 2019 Film and Video Poetry Symposium, presented and organized by The Film and Video Poetry Society, has announced its official program for the second edition of The Film and Video Poetry Symposium. Starting July 12 and running through August 4, 2019.
TIP OF MY TONGUE screening with guest filmmaker Lynne Sachs
(July 2019) Cornerstone guest for the 2019 symposium is Lynne Sachs. In this screening and poetry workshop, Sachs will be in open dialogue regarding her film “Tip of My Tongue” (80 min. 2017), which accentuates the poetry and essay film within its structure.
The 2018 Film and Video Poetry Symposium travels to Belgium
(May 2018) The 2018 Film and Video Poetry Symposium is proud to be included within The Creative Process, an exhibition on display within the University Library of Leuven in Belgium. This exhibition is presented in collaboration with The European Conference for the Humanities.

FVPS 2018 Full Program and Symposium Schedule

(July 2017) Thank you for joining us here at Fvpsociety.com! After 14 months of development and research, The Film and Video Poetry Society presented a beta version of this website on May 1, 2017. Following this event for about a 60 day period, our programming team invited poets & filmmakers to explore and critique the platform so that we could get it just right.
